Prior to forming the law firm of Cambareri & Brenneck, PLLC in January, 2021, PLLC, Stefano Cambareri was the managing partner of the Syracuse, New York law firm of Cambareri & Cambareri, LLP and managed the firm since its formation in 1999.
Steve Cambareri’s legal practice focuses on criminal matters with an emphasis on DWI/DUI defense. Mr. Cambareri also represents clients charged in a wide variety of cases, including murder, narcotics possession/distribution, and white-collar criminal offenses, including tax fraud, falsification of business records, and other theft-type offenses.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Cambareri spent nearly nine years as an Onondaga County assistant district attorney where he handled cases ranging from violent felonies to petty offenses. As a member of the violent felony trial bureau, Mr. Cambareri tried numerous cases, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, burglary, gang assault, and weapons possession. Before working as an assistant district attorney, he was an associate at the Syracuse law firm of Bond, Schoeneck & King.
Mr. Cambareri is an adjunct trial practice professor at the Syracuse University College of Law. He has also been an adjunct professor of criminal law and procedure at Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, New York, and Bryant & Stratton College in Syracuse, New York. He is a past member of the LexisNexis New York Criminal Practice Editorial Board, involved in analyzing and critiquing the New York Criminal Practice Treatise for a complete update and modernization to a second edition. Mr. Cambareri has lectured on various legal topics for the Onondaga County Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Program, including programs on handling a DWI case and vehicle and traffic law matters in New York. He has also lectured on various topics to members of the Syracuse Police Department, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department, Onondaga County Center for Forensic Sciences, local school districts, and community groups.
Mr. Cambareri graduated magna cum laude from the Syracuse University College of Law in 1989, where he was a member of the Justinian Honorary Law Society and an associate editor of the Syracuse Law Review. As a member of the law review, his article entitled United States v. Pforzheimer and the Converse Silver Platter: A Closer Look was published at 40 Syr. L. Rev. 799 (1989). Mr. Cambareri also graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany in 1986 with a B.S. in Business Administration, concentrating in finance.
